چکیده

A color matching experiment was designed and carried out to estimate human observers’ color matching functions (CMFs). 61 colornormal observers participated in the experiment. Their results were traced back to physiological factors using a mathematical vision model. The experiment time was 15 minutes, which is much faster than previous research aimed at determining color matching functions.

Tritanopic color matches and the middle- and long-wavelength-sensitive cone spectral sensitivities

Tritanopic color matches (i.e. matches that depend on the middle- (M) and long- (L), but not short- (S) wavelength-sensitive cones) were made between two half-fields: one illuminated by either a 405 or a 436 nm Hg spectral line; the other by a light of variable wavelength and radiance. Our purpose was to test between rival M- and L-cone spectral sensitivities, which should predict the tritanopi...

The spectral sensitivities of the middle- and long-wavelength-sensitive cones derived from measurements in observers of known genotype

The spectral sensitivities of middle- (M-) and long- (L-) wavelength-sensitive cones have been measured in dichromats of known genotype: M-cone sensitivities in nine protanopes, and L-cone sensitivities in 20 deuteranopes. We have used these dichromat cone spectral sensitivities, along with new luminous efficiency determinations, and existing spectral sensitivity and color matching data from no...

Interchangeable backgrounds for cone afterimages.

Observations of afterimages indicate that red and green cone sensitivities can be modified jndependentiy by bieaehing. providing a way to estimate their sensitivities in the normal eye. The fovea1 afterimage of a red and green bipartite held is allowed to fade against a steady red background. A change of background color from red to green generally revives a bipartite afterimage. If two conditi...

Direct psychophysical estimates of the cone-pigment absorption spectra.

The absorption spectra of the long- and medium-wavelength-sensitive cone photopigments were derived by determining the spectra that best accounted for either the individual differences in the Stiles-Burch 10 degrees color matches [Opt. Acta 6, 1 (1959)] or the changes in color matches at high light levels due to photopigment bleaching [Vision Res. 20, 23 (1980)]. The estimates were made by find...

The effect of photopigment optical density on the color vision of the anomalous trichromat

We present a theoretical model to estimate the influence of photopigment optical density (OD) on the color vision of anomalous trichromats. Photopigment spectral sensitivities are generated using the Lamb (1995) template, which we correct for OD and pre-receptoral filters. Sixteen hyperspectral images (Foster, Nascimento, & Amano, 2004; Nascimento, Ferreira, & Foster, 2002) are analyzed, and th...
